retail therapy

Does anyone realise that the holidays just zoomed past us that quickly? I seriously cannot believe that in 12 hours, I'll know which junior college I'm going to be posted to, and in less than 4 days, I'll be at my new school, or shall I say, college. Somehow, I don't miss secondary school, but I'm nervous about entering a new environment. I guess I have to be a little bit more sociable, and not make my angry(normal) face all the time.

You know, sometimes, people disappoint you, and there's nothing you can do about it, except for some retail therapy, which I undertook just now. I have a feeling in JC, I need to find friends that aren't so selfish and dumb(what a combination!!), because if not, I'll have to undergo retail therapy every week.

Anyways, I practically took the mrt all over singapore just now. First it was to Orchard Road, and then to Vivocity, and then to Heartland Mall, and then to Compass Point, and lastly to Hougang Mall. I seriously think I cannot bring a lot of money with me all the time, otherwise I would have the tendency to spend it all, buying things which are not in my list of "stuff to buy".

I hate shopping for shoes, because most of the time, you won't feel comfortable with the new shoes, and whats more with the salesperson hovering above and around you. Anyways, I went to 3 different outlets, and ended up buying my sports shoe/school shoes from Royal Sporting House. Along with the shoes, I also bought a new water bottle, just for the sake of buying it. Since there was a promotion, I ended up having a 10% discount on my buys.

I also got a new wallet, and although I didn't get the Guy Laroche wallet which I had initially wanted, I'm quite happy with my new Goldlion wallet. It costs like $95, which is like 3 times more expensive than my normal MYUK wallet. My heart was beating super fast when I paid the cashier. As Amanda says, "heart very pain!"

I also bought a Club Marc long pants, which I thought were a steal, even though I don't really know when I would be wearing them. They are white, and informal, and the only place that I could think of wearing it to is the beach, and I don't think I'll ever have the time to go to one since school is starting very, very soon. Truth be told, I only bought it on impulse since the price was watered down to $39.90, while the original price was $129.90.

Now, all I need is that Marc Jacobs shoe. Hopefully, by June, I'll be able to get them, although by then, I think that design would no longer be available since Fall/Winter 09 collection would take over the current Spring/Summer 09 collection. Whatever, since I always prefer Fall's dark collection, as compared to Spring's summery collection, I'm sure I would be able to find something I like then.

And finally, cycle 12 girls of ANTM are finally revealed and freaking god, they're crap. I usually start liking girls at the start, and then choose to hate them later on, but this cycle, I hate all of them from the start. Guess I'll have to tune in to change my opinions.

offensive post

OFFENSIVE BLOG POST.

I was blog-hopping on certain websites and it compelled me to make this post. First and foremost, I've got to admit that I'm not the most religious of all people. I don't pray 5 times a day, and I don't go to friday prayers like I'm supposed to. At the same time, I do wonder how saintly boys who go to friday prayers are?

It's kind of ironic for them to be preaching to people about the do's and dont's, when they themselves aren't the best of human beings. Case in point, a guy who goes to friday prayers, but who actually does heavy-petting with his girlfriend, does that count as being a good Muslim? Most probably not, but hey, as long as I pray, I can do anything right? WRONG! What's the point of praying when you're actually going to do dirty deeds with your girlfriend. So stop acting like you're some big shot guy that knows all about religion just because you have a religious group when you yourself ain't practising what you preach.

Secondly, I wonder why people smoke. I mean I've read before that any harm that you do to your own body is against the religion. In my opinion, smoking is equivalent to slashing your own wrist. So why oh why do I see old men and teenagers smoking before friday prayers? It's kind of funny to think that these people actually think they know about religion, when in truth, whatever they're practising in their everyday life goes against the religion.

Thirdly, I don't get why people act all decent when they're out with parents, wearing the head scarf, when in truth, they're some wild bitch. Sorry for the coarse language, but I just got to say, some people don the head scarf as an act. You act all so decent in the presence of elders, when in truth, you're a bloody hypocritical biatch.

I'm bloody sick of all these poseurs who think that they have a right over my life by pointing out what I do wrong. My parents know that I'm not a religious person and I've said to them before that I'll only change when I want to, and not when they force me. Unlike all these other poseurs, I'm truthful with myself. I don't do contradictory things, like going to friday prayers and then have sex with a girl, or even don a head scarf and then have a make out session at the park.

I'm so sorry if you feel offended by this post, because it's only meant for certain people. If you're flushing red when you read this, it means you're the one whom I'm referring to in this post, and I'm not sorry about that. Hah, it feels good to have a blog to slam certain people.

izzy surprise birthday

I was actually able to make it to the gathering at Area 3 of Pasir Ris Park despite being a little bit under the weather. The paracetamol from the night before certainly managed to keep the flu away a little bit, although it didn't help with my sleep. Was awake by 7am because I had to puke, even though the meeting was planned at 12 pm.

Anyways, having a mobile phone sent for servicing can be a bitch, because you're practically rendered helpless. I was at the interchange at 12 on the dot, but because the people had actually waited at Macdonalds, I waited for 15 minutes, doing my fair share of walking around. Anyways, got the bottle drinks which I sponsored, since the girls had already spent so much money and also because Ben had already baked a surprise cake(more on this in the coming paragraphs).

Anyways, the gathering was to actually celebrate izzy's 17th birthday in advance, although we said to everyone else that it's just gonna be a gathering to celebrate our good results before the jc students start school in 2 weeks. Anyways, no one knew of what was about to happen, except the main actors, i.e Shaz, Amalul and Qomarul. There was a big hoo haa with Qomarul and Shaz, which resulted in Shaz walking away, and fucking everyone up, which was part of the plan. No one knew that it was all an act, especially Izzati, who scolded Qomarul pretty badly. Anyways, the surprise birthday was a success(a first for the clique!) and the birthday girl was moved to tears. Amalul's Oscar-winning performance happened before the Qamarul and Shaz's fake fallout, where he actually rode the bike all the way home to take the cheesecake from the refrigerator, with the pretense that he was going to meet his aunt.

Anyways, we had cute presents made for her, thereafter we sang the birthday song and ate the 2 home-baked cakes, the cheesecake, which was nice, and the brownies, which I'd preferred since I'm more of a chocolate person. Then, we played with the cards, went to the playground, which I had teased Shaz about having a "kakak" beside her. After 4 years of non-existent playground adventure, the action of sitting on a swing and "flying" high was a liberating experience!

We were out of the place by 7 pm, when we actually walked all the way to downtown to catch the bus. So instead of going home, i went to my general practioner located near the Holy Trinity Church regarding my infection. Anyways, I got a jab, and he said that the infection would most likely clear up in a few days, which is great news. I also got pills to be taken one per day. Since I had time while waiting to see the doctor, I decided to be a busybody and snooped around the dental area. One of this days, I'm going to have my teeth whitened and polished, at a student rate of $30-$40:)

I bussed all the way home and was lucky to get a seat for the 35 minutes journey. At the same time, I'm actually finishing on my crime fiction trilogy. It feels like death to not be able to know the ending of the story. Usually, a post like this would be filled with pctures, but since my phone is sent for servicing, I relied on the others for the cam-whoring bit of the day. Am going to be taking the pill soon, so I'm going to be drowsy and off to bed.

so over it

I am sick, literally and figuratively speaking. I have a sore throat, a blocked nose, a would be fever, and I think I have an allergic reaction to something that I ate yesterday, because my body seems to be itching all over now. At the same time, I'm sick of having to entertain crap from people over and over again. And might I add, from the same group of people. But that's all going to change, because I'm moving on to the next chapter of my life, and fortunately or unfortunately, our paths are not going to cross that often now due to the different decisions that we have all made.

I'm usually a patient person, but having made to wait for 45 minutes is surely going to anger even the most patient of people, prompting them to leave. I'm O.K with having to wait for a maximum of 15 minutes, but anything more than that is considered absurd. Never mind that this incident is not the first time, but I just feel that time management is a much needed entity in youths today.

Anyways, to make myself feel better after a crappy start to the day, I decided to window shop, to look at school supplies that I might be buying in the coming week in preparation for the start of the new school life. There's the Nike shoe, the Guy Laroche wallet, the Giordano belt, and that vintage messenger bag, from believe it or not, Bata, although I may be wondering around Haji Lane or Bugis to find better deals for that kind of messenger bags.

Anyways, just talked to my mom, and am pretty happy that she decides that she's going to sponsor 50% of my shopping spree. Yippee! there's so much a little psycho-ing can do. Anyways, am pretty unsure whether I'll make it to tomorrow's gathering. I'm feeling under the weather now, and I don't think the hot blazing sun would do me any good.

inauguration

Did anyone stay up late yesterday to watch the inauguration of Obama being sworn in as the 44th Presient of the United States of America? I did stay up until 2 in the morning, and let me just say, the atmosphere was amazing, and I could just feel a sense of pride resonating from the crowd at National Hall in Washington D.C. It amazes me that the people actually braved the cold just to be able to be part of such a historical event. Baiscally, this is the first time that I've seen an inauguration taking place and it was a sight to behold. Anyways, I did listen to Obama's speech and although I'm a little miffed by some parts of it, I shan't elaborate the details.

What I was interested in was to see what outfit that Michelle Obama would be wearing since she's like the new fashionista/first lady that people look up to other than Carla Bruni, although I've to say, no one can surpass Carla Bruni, just because she's a former model and she carries herself with such poise and elegance. Anyways, her first outfit of the day was a tad dissapointing. It was in my opinion, a frumpy dress suited fpr George Bush's mother. Wearing a bejewelled dress with matching trench coat is a bit over the top.

Anyways, her second dress, which she wore for her dance as the first lady was magnificently beautiful. It was kind of a surprise since the designer of the dress, Jason Wu, is a relatively new designer that's not yet as established as Oscar De La Renta. Anyways, at first glance, I didn't like the dress as I felt that the dress was too muted, but after seeing the gown up close, my opinions changed because there were little details that totally won me over. And the dress fitted her like a glove. Another plus point is that the designer himself sewed the dress. So, basically, you can see the hard work of the designer, and I'm sure he must be over the moon to have the First Lady to wear his garment. The same can't be said, for say, Oscar De La Renta, who most probably had his workers sew the gown which may have been chosen by Michelle O.

There was a big hoo haa with the online sommunity before the Inauguration day about what designer would Michelle O be wearing on the big night. What's more, WWD actually published sketches of designers that would have died to have their creations worn by the First Lady. There were 40 creations, of which most was beautiful. There were however, some hideous sketches, like Betsey Johnson's flag dress. Anyways, Michelle O would have looked great in Monique H, Michael K and Diane VF. Anyways, at the end of the day, Michelle O still looked divine in Jason Wu!

magazines are love

So, instead of going home yesterday, I stayed over at my cousin's place for a night, with the laptop in tow. Gosh, it can be a burden to tow the laptop from one place to another. Anyways, finally added up trait, and it feels good to be able to talk to someone who actually knows the difference between Lanvin and Balmain, and Steven Meisel and Steven Klein. No offence to Ben, but it gets kind of dull just talking about Natasha Poly all the time.

So, being over at the cousin's place can be very beneficial, because the ka-ching keeps coming in. So anyways, when I woke up just now, breakfast or shall I say, lunch was at Banquet. We drove all the way to Simei for that, and also for my aunt's face moisturiser, which she bought at Lustre. Seriously, that small tube of lotion costs like $50++, of which it could actually buy me my monthly dose of magazines.

Anyways, I decided to leave the cousin's place at 7pm, and being me, I trained all the way to Harbourfront to go to pageone to get Harpers Bazaar US. Well, the editorials inside are alright and Freja looks great, though she's flat as an ironing board!!!Anyways, am so pissed with the staff there. I enquired on when the February issue of Vogue Australia with Daria on the cover would be available last week, and the manager said that it'll be ready by today. So, I was feeling all excited to get my hands on them but when I arrived, lo and behold, the January issue of Vogue Australia was being put on display. I mean Borders had the issue like weeks back and they're only displaying that now?!?!

I nearly bought French Vogue but it does seem to be a waste since a)I could actually see the editorials online and b)I don't understand their articles. Furthermore, there's so much hype about the cover model but I don't even know her. She's a Princess Stephanie of Monaco I think. Anyways, Brad Pitt looked especially bad on the cover of W with all the wrinkly lines on his face. So I guess his sex symbol status is diminishing. And Prada ads look super gorgeous and eye-popping when I finally get to see them in print:)

Anyways, just found out from my dad that my maternal aunt just got hospitalised. I may be visiting her tomorrow and also am still on a prowl for Vogue Astralia. And who knew that Dubai had a Harpers Bazaar. That's news to me.

schedule

I've just checked MJC's calender of events, and OMFG, school starts on the 2nd of February, which is on a monday, which is in 2 weeks time. For those of you guys going to polytechnic, you lucky fuckers. There's still so many things to do, and so little time for me to do it. I'm praying to some freaking mother of god to let me into meridian junior college, so all my fingers are crossed, including my toes. OK, so that's super duper lame. I just realised I'm becoming more and more like bread, a.k.a Geraldine, in my blog rantings.

So, since school's starting soon, and since I do not have the luxury of time, shopping for school supplies needs to be done ASAP, meaning there's no time to waste! I need/want a vintage slingbag(NIKE's and ADIDAS' are getting super common), a swatch watch(hopefully courtesy of the mother or father or whoever's kind enough), wallet, pencil case, sports shoes(what colour?) and loafers(ok, so this is so not technically part of the back-to-school stuffs but still), dress shirts(you never know) and trousers.

And the budget for all these stuffs: $200 of my own money, and the rest will be from the people whom I call parents with benefits. Ok, so that sounds totally wrong if you're in the loop, but, yeah parents=benefits. Maybe the loafers and dress shirts and trousers are not the priority at this second but at the end of the day, I still want them. Oh, and not forgetting, I need a bigger closet space!!

So, from now on, I've got to start thinking of my own future, which means I need to do certain things to give me an advantage during the university admission exercise. So among other things, I plan to join NASS alumni since it'll look good on my testimonial, maybe run for council at jc(or not!), start a movement with the help of the school(be it mjc or tjc or cjc, but hopefully MJC) called "SAVE GAZA FROM ISRAEL" and volunteer at some old folks home or childrens' home. So I guess thses "aspirations" are going to keep me busy in the next few months, that is if I were to actually do them instead of just dreaming about doing them.

And to all current friends, future friends, let's do some crazy things before the age of 20. I've got a few ideas. Since Singapore Idol is coming back, let's go audition for the heck of it. It'll definitely be an experience and it's a conversation starter. I mean at least for me, I know I can't sing to save my life, but at the end of the day, Singapore Idol is still a joke. I don't see no more albums coming out from anyone. And let's also go on the Carlsberg Tower at Sentosa, do some reverse bungee, and go on the Singapore Flyer(for people who's not been on it, like me!).

I've so many crazy ideas for my future, and P.S, don't you dare steal it from me. Haha!!!;)

As I am writing this entry, my heart is racing at 100 miles an hour and my stomach is doing somersaults. Just the idea that in 2 days time, the results would be released, makes me wanna scream at the world, and tell them, PAUSE, isn't it all going a little too fast? I have not rested enough yet. I could still remember the first day of the O Levels, it's still fresh in my mind, and yet, a new experience is going to pile up upon it.

Should I go to a JC, it's going to be a hell of a ride, with The term tests starting and then, A Levels, right around next year.
Should I go to a Polytechnic, would I be able to withstand the competitiveness, as NA had said, from her past experiences?

Time is not on my side, ever.
